CANVAS Unveils Conceptual New EP Palimorph via SSKWAN

Atlanta-based producer CANVAS channels identity, transformation, and emotional depth into her latest SSKWAN release.

Atlanta-based producer CANVAS unveils her newest EP, Palimorph, set to release Thursday, April 16 via SSKWAN. A deeply conceptual body of work, Palimorph explores the cyclical nature of identity, transformation, and self-actualization, blending visceral low-end energy with emotional depth and forward-thinking sound design. With this release, CANVAS continues to carve out her own lane in modern bass music, translating personal evolution into powerful sonic storytelling.

The EP title, coined by CANVAS herself, represents “a form that can re-form into previous states; a cyclical, reversible change.” Drawing from her own journey of growth and becoming, the project reflects a layered sense of identity, returning to familiar shapes while evolving through experience.

“A fundamental part of my artist and personal journey is self-actualization or in other words ‘becoming’,” CANVAS shares. “Here, my identity is Palimorph; returning to an earlier shape, yet layered with previous and future versions of myself. Returning to something familiar but in a new way, iterating over time and through experience while remaining distinctly unique. To me, this body of work is my sonic translation of just that. With this EP, I hope to shift your perspective of identity and the non-linear nature of becoming.”

Forging her own path as a first-generation American of Zimbabwean heritage, Rita Mucavele – known professionally as CANVAS – brings culture, rhythm, and purpose into every aspect of her artistry. Now, she honors her roots while redefining genre boundaries, using music as a tool for connection, transformation, and expression. Her name itself symbolizes the ever-evolving relationship between artist and listener, where each moment becomes a blank slate painted with individual meaning. With previous releases on influential labels including Deep, Dark & Dangerous, OdyZey, WAKAAN, Street Ritual, along with festival appearances at Hulaween, Lights All Night, Deep Tropics, WAKAAN Music Festival, Freaky Deaky, Infrasound, Ubbi Dubbi, and support for artists among the likes of
