GRiZ is back at it again with his eagerly awaited new single “Chaos Theory,” with acclaimed bass music powerhouse Wooli, marking their first-ever collaboration together. This track comes as GRiZ gains massive momentum following the surprise release of his ‘Gemini EP’ and two significant upcoming performances: his sold-out Seven Stars Festival in Virginia this October, and his newly announced “Re: Connect” arena shows in Chicago, IL, and Daly City, CA.

Slowly infiltrating its way through the electronic world via WOOLI’s various live performances, Choase Theory is a high-impact funkadelic thrill ride that continues to push the boundaries of electronic music. Showcasing the unique vocals of renowned voice actor Boris Hiestand, recognized for his performances in Overwatch and Assassin’s Creed, GRiZ and WOOLI enlisted him for their upcoming project. Rather than relying on a sample, the artists contracted Hiestand to record an original vocal track specifically for this release.

We’re Back Baby!

Opening with the cinematic sound design reminiscent of the climax of a movie, Hiestand clears his throat into the mic and motions for listeners to “let’s begin,” officially marking the start of this musical journey. Wavey synths and reverberant bass lines ease the listener along as delicately as the morning dew, while GRiZ’s powerful saxophone playing wails through the air. The track slowly begins to build upon these monstrous saxophone notes. “The universe unfolds on a harmony of chaos, and creation… What power is this?!?” demands Hiestand.

And just before the first drop is when the real magic happens. “Hey WOOLI? GRiZ, Yeah.” Their signature taglines unleash a barrage of killer bass and engulfing dubstep. The rails begin to shake, and headbangers’ hair flow vigorously in the wind. “We need more!” demands Hiestand. And more he gets; the drop continues to rattle along with overlays of glitchy mouthful like samplings. GRiZ’s sax commands center attention as WOOLI’s hard-hitting soundscape carries the track onward.

Bass face is engaged as the final portion of the track unleashes an all-out assault on the eardrums. Hypnotizing bass lines drive this new single home as Hiestand cackles into the mic, “My best creation yet,” he says, signifying the conclusion of this highly anticipated new collaboration between these two mammoth figures of the night. Dropping just a day before WOOLI is set to head line Texas’ ILLFest, I’m sure this momentous new track will make an appearance.
