“Are We Dreaming?”

Not just the title of bass heavy hitter Peekaboo’s sophomore release, but a question so many fans have been asking, since it’s been nearly two years following his debut album, Eyes Wide Open.

Eyes Wide Open was heralded by the bass community as “legacy-defining” and “the direction dubstep is headed,” with its distinct dark and deep sound. And with its diverse spectrum of styles and subgenres, Are We Dreaming?  seems like the natural evolution and step up from Eyes. Peekaboo shared on his Instagram, “After my first album, I learned so much about myself and what styles I’m really into. This project really represents who I am.”

Peekaboo sounds extra “UK” on Dreaming in comparison to his debut, with an increased focus on UKG and UK dubstep. Tracks like “Old School”, “After Party”, and “Pump It Up” bring the UK grime/garage sound with recruited features from prominent UK names such as Badklaat, P Money, Flava D, and rapper/MC Scrufizzer.

His impressive feature roster doesn’t end there – he also tags in artists like borne, Nitepunk and LYNY for their experience in the trap space for his tracks “Want It” and “Answer All My Prayers.” And of course, we can’t gloss over his huge grab of Skrillex and Flowdan for the monster collab “6 Million,” which has been highly anticipated by fans for years.

The album continues spanning subgenres – hitting some bass house with “Party Time,” some heavy experimental bass with “Séance” and “Are We Dreaming,” and even closing with some hip-hop/wave in “No City Like Mine.” And of course, for the OG Peekaboo fans, there’s still plenty of his characteristic dark bass sound in “Yeke Yeke,” “Loco,” and crowd favorite “Open Up.”

The release of this LP is just the beginning of Peekaboo’s 2026 run. He followed up the release with a US tour announcement, as well as confirmation that he’s still sitting on “so much more unreleased music” (so those of us still waiting for the RL Grime collab can rest easy!).
