Seven Lions To Release Anticipated New Album Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars on Ophelia Records

Featuring singles with Kerli, HALIENE, and Lilly Ahlberg, the album marks a return to Seven Lions’ roots: handcrafted, immersive, fantasy-driven electronic music

Ophelia Records founder and electronic music visionary Seven Lions will release new album Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars on 12th December 2025. A sweeping and deeply personal body of work, the album marks a deliberate return to the inspirations that shaped Seven Lions’ earliest sound – fantasy, metal, handcrafted detail, and emotionally immersive storytelling.

“The name came from me going back to my roots – books, fantasy, metal,” Jeff Montalvo a.k.a Seven Lions says. “A lot of my favorite metal tracks have these mystical, visually evocative names. I wanted something that felt old-school Seven Lions, something that sparks imagery the moment you read it.”  That sense of worldbuilding threads through the entire record, which he describes as “handcrafted and intentional – something that transports you. Immense, overwhelming, and capable of pulling you into another world.”

Ahead of the album release, Seven Lions put out three standout singles that showcased the range fans could expect from the full project. September’s “By the Light of the Moon” reunited him with Estonian singer Kerli for the first time since their beloved 2014 single “Worlds Apart”, delivering an ethereal, dreamlike, and emotionally charged landscape. October brought “So Far Away” (feat. Lilly Ahlberg),  Seven Lions’ first drum & bass track – an aching, melodic exploration of distance and longing. Then came “Cold as Snow” (feat. HALIENE), the sixth collaboration between the two artists. Inspired by obscure metal influences, it blends live guitars, metal-driven drums, and an abstract instrumental foundation that evolved into what he considers one of his saddest pieces of work.

Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars expands further with a powerful, diverse tracklist that highlights Seven Lions’ melodic identity while venturing into new creative territory. The album opens with its namesake track, a breakbeat-driven, trance-like introduction that sets the tone for the journey ahead. “Breaking Me” delivers emotive vocals and a commanding big-room sound, while “Delusional” rises as an anthemic, euphoric peak driven by No/Me’s soaring performance. “A Crown of Seven Suns” provides a serene, calming instrumental interlude before plunging into heavy drum and bass banger “From Beyond”“Past You” feat. Oaks is an emotional anthem about the struggle to move on, then Kerli returns for a second collaboration on “Thrice Woven”, a cinematic, tension-filled build that enriches the album’s narrative depth. Longtime collaborator Fiora closes the project with “Breathe It Out Slowly”, an intimate, atmospheric finale.

To Seven Lions, the album represents a reclamation of purpose and identity in a chaotic landscape. “This album is about feeling increasingly out of place in the current landscape… there’s just so much noise,” he explains. “I wanted to turn away from all that and reconnect with what originally made me fall in love with making music.” He adds, “To me, it’s a journey back to my roots – all the inspirations, all the handcrafted art, all the heart and soul from me, the vocalists, and every visual artist involved. In a world full of AI and shortcuts, this album was about sitting down and creating something meaningful.”
