Seven Lions and HALIENE Reunite for Timeless New Single “Cold as Snow”

Cold as Snow

Acclaimed producer, DJ, and innovator Seven Lions returns with his long-time collaborator, Grammy-nominated songstress HALIENE for their powerful new single, “Cold as Snow,” out now on Ophelia Records.

Marking the third release from his highly anticipated, upcoming album Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars, releasing on December 12“Cold as Snow” is an emotional journey that showcases both artists at their creative peak.

Speaking on ‘Cold as Snow’

“Cold as Snow” moves beyond genre or trend. Inspired by Seven Lions’obscure metal influences, the single returns to his roots with live guitars and powerful, metal-driven drums, crafting an abstract instrumental that evolved into something deeper. After sending the track to HALIENE, the two artists explored a haunting, ethereal sound that reflected the piece’s somber, winter-like mood. HALIENE’s rich, poetic topline layered emotional depth over the composition, culminating in a simple yet heart-wrenching chorus – transforming the once-experimental instrumental into one of the album’s standout tracks

Cold as Snow’ was always meant to be an instrumental, but when I finished it, I thought it would be really interesting to try adding vocals,” Seven Lions shares. “The song doesn’t have any repeating parts, so it’s tricky for a vocalist to write over. I felt like the only person who could really do it justice was HALIENE – and she absolutely crushed it.”

On the meaning of the single, HALIENE says, “Cold As Snow’ is about the soul ties that continue to haunt us long after the love has turned cold. It’s a plea for release – for freedom not just in life, but in spirit. Sometimes the hardest goodbye is the one that’s never spoken. This song speaks of that cosmic connection between two souls that once moved as one; the threads of the other still wound around you, and you find yourself begging their soul to let you go.”
