With a tremendous year of festival runs, touring, and curated event support, Cool Customer is holding no longer. Dropping his new Five-track EP “ Thank You For Holding, “ Cool Customer is excited to unveil this new extended body of work. The new EP arrives after high-visibility appearances this year, including the Deadbeats Jamboree in Denver, Direct support for Tape B at his Red Rocks debut, and GRiZ’s Seven Stars Music Festival.
Having the pleasure of seeing him perform at GRiZ’s Seven Stars Festival during a night set on the Zodiac Stage, there’s a reason why he’s Mr. Cool. Sliding onto the stage with an effortless swagger about him, the innate dialing and punching in of numbers rang loudly from the speakers. Suddenly, the operator came on, alerting us that we would be placed on a brief hold. Sending us on a dark glitch hop journey through sound, this was one of my favorite sets over the weekend. Rising out some of these unreleased tracks over the course of his set, the release of this EP excites fans everywhere.

“I can’t wait to release this one. It’s been a while since I’ve shared an extended body of work, and creating this five-track EP was an extremely challenging and personal journey. I included some brand-new songs, plus a few tunes from both of my ‘Customer Service’ mixes. This one really means a lot to me.”
Hold that thought…
Kicking off the EP with extreme precision, “Say What” blasts through the speakers, igniting a groovacious hop-hop-inspired track with glitchy undertones. His East Coast swagger shines brightly in this with gritty samples of “Say What!?” spliced throughout the song. Raspy bass lines drive this one forward with full ferocity. Having the pleasure of witnessing this masterpiece, the mechanical-like noises matched his visuals exceptionally well.
Next up on the EP are his two previously released singles, “The M.F.” and “Peppermint.” “The M.F.” is a big reverberant beast! Led by Ice Cube’s distinctive lyrics, this cosmic low-end grinder takes center stage. Hold on tight because the bass drop in this one will have you reconsidering your life’s decisions. Then the strange music kicks in… “Peppermint” is a distorted low-end sidewinder, whisking you through the corridors of some Egyptian-like temple. With tribal-like noises combined with animatronic sounds, this multi-layered spacious soundscape offers a real change of pace.
Hello? Operater…
Just when you think everything is okay, here comes “Honky Dory,” a bass-heavy vibrato that cascades into the eardrums. Encompassing drawn-out bass lines that slither this way and that. That hip-hop flair sneaks in once again, with samples of old telephone company ads for added textures. Honky Dory is a rollercoaster ride from start to finish, with massive bass booms and lo-fi chill sections. It’s hard to put into words the infectious groove this track carries…
Closing out the EP is the title track “Thank You For Holding.” A smooth groove from start to finish, this one eases the listener into a soft landing after an intergalactic journey through the powerlines. Soft chords and delicate swirls initiate this, coupled with a bouncy hip-hop backbeat grooving the listener along, making them can’t help but bob their head. “Thank you for waiting,” says the operator in a soft voice. Designed as a set ender, this closes the EP with style and grace.
