Acclaimed producer, DJ, and visionary artist Seven Lions unveils his latest single, “So Far Away (feat. Lilly Ahlberg),” out October 15. Serving as the second release from his forthcoming album Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars – arriving December 12 2025 – the track continues to expand the album’s emotive, melodic universe.
A melodic drum and bass offering, “So Far Away” captures the aching beauty of distance and longing. Lyrically centered on yearning for someone who feels out of reach, the song mirrors its sentiment through its soaring melody and intricate production – balancing energy with introspection in classic Seven Lions fashion.
The track features Lilly Ahlberg, a Swedish-born, UK-based singer-songwriter known for her warm, emotive vocals and reflective lyricism. Having carved out a space in electronic and pop music through collaborations with artists like S.P.Y and Etherwood, Ahlberg brings a delicate intensity to “So Far Away,” her voice gliding effortlessly over Seven Lions’ cinematic soundscape.
Following September’s “By the Light of the Moon (feat. Kerli)”, “So Far Away” offers another glimpse into Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars – a record that finds Seven Lions embracing both his melodic roots and a renewed sense of artistic freedom. Dropping on December 12, the album draws from his formative influences in trance and metal while expanding the lush, emotional storytelling that defines his work.
Reflecting on the project, Seven Lions shared:
“This album is about feeling increasingly out of place in the current media landscape…there’s just so much noise. I wanted to turn away from all that and reconnect with what originally made me fall in love with making music. It’s definitely a statement of individuality and acceptance that I have no ‘place’ in EDM other than the one I make for myself.”
Seven Lions, aka Jeff Montalvo, has been pushing the boundaries of electronic music for over a decade. From his breakthrough remix of Above & Beyond’s “You Got to Go” to his genre-defying releases on Anjunabeats, OWSLA, Casablanca, and his own Ophelia Records, he’s cultivated a global following drawn to his emotionally resonant sound. His 2022 album Beyond the Veil and collaborations with artists like Illenium, Tove Lo, Gryffin, Skylar Grey, and Noah Kahan have cemented his reputation as one of dance music’s most versatile and visionary figures.
A top touring act, Seven Lions has headlined sold-out shows at Red Rocks, LA State Historic Park, and Tacoma Dome, performed at Ultra, EDC, and Electric Forest, and continues to evolve his label Ophelia Records into a leading force in melodic bass – championing rising artists and amassing over a billion streams worldwide.
With “So Far Away”, Seven Lions offers a stirring, high-energy reflection on distance and devotion – another chapter in the story of Asleep in the Garden of Infernal Stars, and a reminder of his ability to blend emotion, melody, and power into something transcendent.
