For 15 years, the word “summer” has essentially been synonymous with Edward Maya and Vika Jigulina‘s evergreen mega-hit Stereo Love. The iconic party track, born from the escapism of a global recession, evokes visions of being on a boat on a European summer or partying during a Miami sunset for just about everyone (even our non-EDM-listening counterparts!). Even though it’s October now, house legend San Pacho shows he’s refusing to let summer go without one more hit. Together with rising producer Noah Scannell, they’ve brought the 2010 Eurodance-pop hit into the tech-house dominated new decade.
San Pacho just posted the Stereo Love edit up for free download, but it made its presence at several festivals this summer. With San Pacho’s signature touch running through the production, this peak-time DJ weapon guarantees energy and crowd reaction.
The heavy drums that open the song immediately give it that global sound that do the original justice. But where the original gave “European yacht party” with its ethnic Romanian influences, the flip gives more “sweaty Tulum jungle dance floor.”
When the drums cut to highlight the vocals, it sounds like the topline was kept intact. After all, Vika’s voice was a huge part of what made the track iconic! When the percussion comes back in, the vibes instantly become dark and pervasive. They add the “dark tech house” approach recently popularized by the likes of Odd Mob or Layton Giordani remixes. Almost an entire minute of drums close out the song, bringing the track to a run time of 6 minutes. In a world of short EPs and TikTok edits, San Pacho and Noah Scannell’s lengthy banger will definitely keep crowds dancing and make the night (and summer) feel like forever!
