After a summer of being rinsed by every house artist from Mau P to Ayybo to label dad himself John Summit, tech house anthem “Diet Coke,” from rising talent Fallon, is finally out on Experts Only.
The label-proclaimed “dangerously addictive” track had the internet in a chokehold after every summer fest, with netizens blowing up forums for Elements, Splash House, and Day Trip begging for the ID that “they heard at every set” and “had the crowds going crazy.” And it’s no surprise it was a hit – “Diet Coke” had all the ingredients for success. It took the 2008 hip-hop classic “Everyone Nose” from N.E.R.D’s Seeing Sounds album and turned it into a tech house club banger, with just an added dash of promo from some of house’s biggest names.
“I made this track back in February and thought it was just potentially another solid free download for my SoundCloud,” Fallon wrote about the song on his Instagram. “I posted a story of Cloonee playing it… then Mau [P], Matroda, and John [Summit] began supporting it and it took off into another stratosphere.”
“Everyone Nose” is no stranger to the house world, having also been remixed before by legends Scotty Boy and Chris Lorenzo. While that version retained more of the “substance-friendly” vocals from the official remix with Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, and Clipse, Fallon’s version kept things more minimal, with just the N.E.R.D hook, dark vibes, and heavy bass. There were even also moments of acid tech house reminiscent of John Summit’s older work.
“Diet Coke” is one of Fallon’s bigger departures from his earlier sound, which trended on deeper, global house. With this massive success that had all of us “standing in line” for the release, Fallon has definitely locked in his spot on not only the Experts Only label, but in the tech house scene.
