RaeCola Brings the Heat With Latest EP Double Trouble
On September 12th, the Chicago-born twin duo delivers a genre-bending, three-track EP built for end-of-summer dancefloors.
From the underground of LA to festival stages across the globe, dance music’s beloved twin duo RaeCola have built their reputation on refusing to play it safe. On September 12th, the South Side Chicago natives return with their Double Trouble EP– a three-track project that captures their signature, genre-defying sound and uncompromising groove, resulting in their most daring project yet.
Turning Up the Heat with Double Trouble EP
The title track, ‘Double Trouble’, radiates club intensity and boss energy that has come to define the sisters’ performances. ‘No Time to Talk’ is a floor-filling cut with a tongue-in-cheek reminder that the dancefloor isn’t for discourse– it’s for movement. The closing track ‘Said I Don’t Need You But..’ leans into RaeCola’s emotional side, pairing break-inspired, lo-fi percussion with layered female vocals for a track that’s equal parts fierce and vulnerable. On the EP, the duo shares, “The shows we played this year have been straight out of our dreams! Creating this EP while touring let us really capture the energy of these moments from getting pumped up to bts of love on the road.”
Since debuting with ‘Double Dutch’ on Justin Jay’s Fantastic Voyage imprint in 2022, RaeCola have steadily carved out a reputation as one of dance music’s most sought-after new acts. Their momentum has only grown since– releasing ‘Match My Vibe’ with Australian collaborators Tom Budin, Oscar Jamo, and Kvision, and joining writing sessions at Aluna’s Noir Fever camp in 2024, where they created ‘Nite Cap’ and ‘ACAPULCO!’ alongside Farrah Fawx and Uniiqu3. Their productions fuse Chicago house, jackin’ house, and ghetto tech with a modern, bass-heavy edge– a style inspired by pioneers like DJ Slugo and DJ Godfather but reimagined through their own lens.
Lighting Up Festivals and Culture Worldwide
Beyond the studio, their performances have lit up major festivals including Ultra Miami, Lollapalooza, Shambhala, Beyond Wonderland, Electric Forest, and Dirtybird Campout, as well as unique cultural stages like Rockefeller Center and Burberry’s Rodeo Drive Pop-Up.
Their influence also extends far beyond music. From starring in music videos with Anderson.Paak, GoldLink, Justin Timberlake, and USHER, to appearing in campaigns with global brands like Smirnoff, Adidas, Nike, and Coca-Cola, RaeCola has become a force within both pop culture and the fashion world. Known for designing their own stage outfits, advocating for diversity through initiatives such as LP Giobbi’s Femme House, and maintaining a grassroots connection to the underground parties where they started, the twins embody a rare mix of cultural relevance and a firm commitment to authenticity.
With Double Trouble, RaeCola continues their ascent as trailblazers for the next generation of house music– pairing their bold, twin synergy with an unshakable commitment to staying true to their roots.
