New EP

Producer and DJ Ookay returns to Dim Mak with an electrifying 4-track EP entitled Proxima Nova. Each track merges multiple styles of dance music, leaving surprises at every drop.
Ookay shares, “Proxima translates to “next” while Nova translates to “new”; a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness. I wanted this music to show what’s next and give brightness to my sound. It also pays homage to a font that has been used throughout the years and has established itself while still being reinvented, which is a reflection of my career. Bringing a rebirth of everything that has established Ookay up till this point.”

Rock That Body

“Move Ya Body,” the first track on the EP, is a bright Hybrid Bass tune, weaving Trap, Bass, and dancehall-style vocals into a dynamic arrangement. Next up on the EP is the single released in July, “Speakers Knockin”. Packed with retro flavor and underground energy, this track offers a bouncy UKG / Bass House sound that’s powered by funky keyboard stabs and complextro-inspired rhythms.
The third track, “All I Ever Wanted”, is a Festival Trap heater laced with soulful vocals, bouncy jersey club drums, and gritty low-end synths. Its soaring vocal lines and percussive drive make it an undeniable crowd-pleaser. Closing out Proxima Nova, “Lose Control” contrasts light, airy vocals with a sudden plunge into a heavy, snappy bassline. The textured production and sharp sound design leave a lasting impact long after the final drop.

From start to finish, Proxima Nova delivers Ookay’s forward-thinking production in a way that speaks to fans across the electronic spectrum.

ABOUT OOKAY

Ookay, the dynamic DJ and producer from San Diego, California, has left an indelible mark on the electronic music scene with his versatile sound-spanning house and trap-style productions. His musical journey took off with a bang, driven by hits like the 2016 chart-topper “Thief” and the 2017 collaborations “Chasing Colors” with Marshmello and Noah Cyrus. With an impressive catalog of consistent singles and EPs over 10 years, Ookay reached a significant milestone in 2018 with his debut full-length album, “Wow! Cool Album!” which catapulted him on tour, reaching stages around the world and notable festivals like Lollapalooza, Coachella, Bonnaroo & EDC Las Vegas.

Abraham Laguna, professionally known as Ookay, quickly gained recognition for his high-energy brand of trap music. He transitioned into a more melodic trap-oriented sound as his career evolved. His remixes of tracks by renowned artists such as Steve Aoki, Chris Lake, Royal & The Serpent, MAX, and many more earned him accolades on Beatport and beyond. Additionally, Ookay’s collaboration with Diplo on the reimagining of Avicii’s “You Make Me” solidified his position as a respected figure in the electronic music scene. Ookay’s electrifying live performances and strong social media presence keep him at the forefront of the industry, making him a true trailblazer in the world of electronic music.

Shoot For the Moon

In 2019, Ookay launched his first headline bus tour, “Bad Habit,” across the North American territory & all across Asia with brand new music from his sophomore album “Very Special”, which showcased more of his songwriting and vocal performances, establishing him as more of a recording artist than just a producer.

In 2025, Ookay has leaned back into his production roots with high-energy club and dance-oriented sounds while blending the musical elements that established him in the beginning. Fusing trap, house, melodic bass, and techno, Ookay tries to break the rules musically. While focusing on his 3rd album, Ookay continues to entertain audiences and collaborate with heavy-hitting acts in the scene.

Ookay has now birthed a new project, “Trickstar,” as well in collaboration with New York-based trap artist Bailo. Focused on delivering a new festival-trap sound for the new generation using his based roots, this new project has already gained collaborations with Marshmello, Lil Jon, DJ Snake, Flosstradamus & more. Having support from the biggest names in bass music, will likely see more of both projects in the years to come.
