Gabry Ponte delves into the archives of Eurodance on ‘Alte Keks’ a rugged techno-laced rework of Mo-Do’s 1994 cult classic ‘Eins, Zwei, Polizei.’ Out now via his underground-leaning imprint PENTAPHONIA Records, Gabry Ponte pays tribute to the original by turning it into a peak-time destroyer made to raise the club roof.
With a deep affiliation to the 90s heyday of the Eurodance scene through his own era-defining work under Eiffel 65, Gabry Ponte is one of the best qualified producers to take on the responsibility of reworking the iconic record. The final result is certified as a winner with the added blessing of Mo-Do’s original vocals from the 90s cut.
Gabry Ponte immediately delivers within the opening bars, sending the famous vocal hook, delivered in German, into a deep state of isolated distortion. A relentless techno kick then raises the stakes, and the electrifying synths playfully ignite the infectious melody, laying the foundations for the peak-time drop which has the power to override any sound system and descend dancefloors into pure party pandemonium.
Once again, Gabry Ponte shows no let-up in his genre versatility and studio capabilities as one of dance music’s most revered producers.
