Chinese-Australian-born tastemaker Wax Motif and South African innovator Kyle Watson join forces for the first time on ‘Push Up’, a heavy-hitting house track that fuses their signature low-end styles into a relentless club-ready anthem. Featuring the fiery lyricism of UK MC Scrufizzer, out now via the acclaimed Australian dance label, Sweat It Out.
Built around a gritty vocal hook and a booming percussive groove, ‘Push Up’ is a perfect balance between a darker club track and an undeniable summer heater. From Scruffizer’s UK-infused vocal rhythms to head-knocking drops, the record leans into each artist’s strength– Wax Motif’s bass-driven approach and Kyle Watson’s textured sound design– culminating in a high-energy crowd pleaser primed for festival stages and late-night dance floors alike.
On the collaboration, Wax shares: “I’ve been a fan of Kyle’s work for a long time, but we only recently started spending time together when he came out to LA for a visit. During one of our sessions, we stumbled upon a sick TikTok of Doja Cat that inspired the beat— we built the track around it, and it instantly felt special. We started playing it in our sets, and the response was great. When it became clear we couldn’t clear the sample, I knew Scrufizzer was the perfect fit to rework the vocals. We’ve collaborated on a bunch of tracks before, and his energy matched the vibe we were going for perfectly.”
Kyle elaborates, “When Wax and I linked up in LA for some studio time last year, we knew we were onto something with this tune. I’ve enjoyed his stuff for a while, so when we got in the same room, it felt really natural, and the session went super smooth. Couldn’t be more stoked with the outcome, and Scrufizzer’s raw vocals really tie the whole thing together.”
With a catalog that merges house, hip-hop, and UK bass, Wax Motif has established himself as one of electronic music’s most versatile producers. From collaborations with Ty Dolla $ign and Zhu to headlining global festivals and curating his House of Wax events, Wax remains a dynamic force shaping the future of dance music.
No Context Records label owner, Kyle Watson, is known for his distinct blend of chunky drums and ear-tickling textures– releasing on labels like Realm and Insomniac, touring globally, and earning support from leading tastemakers including Chris Lake, Gorgon City, and John Summit. His ability to craft bassline-forward records with wide appeal has made him a staple on club and festival stages worldwide.
Scrufizzer brings his signature rapid-fire delivery and energetic style to the track, adding an unmistakable UK flair. Known for his work with artists like Danny Byrd, Zed Bias, and Tiësto, Scrufizzer continues to be a standout voice in the intersection of grime, UK garage, and electronic music.
With ‘Push Up’, Wax Motif and Kyle Watson deliver a bold, bass-fueled heater that demands attention. It’s a high-octane fusion of global influences– loaded with raw energy from Scruffizer’s vocals and built to ignite dance floors all summer long. Fans can experience the collaboration live on July 6th at The Midway Block Party in San Francisco, where Wax will be teaming up with Matroda for their iconic “Waxtroda” set, with Kyle Watson taking the stage just beforehand.
