Between frontman duties for Major Lazer, helming Mad Decent, solo releases with the most sought after pop stars of the moment like Lil Yachty and Justin Bieber, soccer teams, Vice programming, and production work on some of the biggest records of the last year, Diplo constantly keeps himself on the move. Somehow though, he still manages to hold down his spot as a major cultural tastemaker, largely behind his exceptionally well-rounded musical palate.
Diplo recently uploaded a two hour long house-leaning mix titled “Afrika Burn” on his SoundCloud. The mix was a recorded live from a performance in South Africa and comes as the latest installment of his weekly BBC radio slot, “Diplo and Friends.” Holding tight to a danceable club-ready motif, Diplo rotates through a fresh batch of house gems from Tiesto, Tchami, Justin Jay, Armand Van Velden and more.
The songs in the refreshing mix are not what most fans would associate Diplo’s usual fare with, serving as a reminder that the veteran performer really does have no sonic boundaries.
