Linkin Park ventured into electronic territory recently with their new single, “Heavy.” Featuring Kiiara on vocal duties, the piece is bass-driven in nature and represents yet another example of the EDM/pop fusion sound currently sweeping mainstream airwaves.

Dutch veteran Nicky Romero was selected for remix duties, choosing to venture into future bass territory in favor of maintaining the aesthetic of the original. Romero’s rendition is even more fit for the dancefloor, mirroring Flume in his synth work and inserting drops powerful enough to please the masses in which he’ll likely be playing the song for. The remix represents a new direction for the producer, though it is perhaps a bit safe by adhering to tropes popular into today’s dance sphere. Nonetheless, Romero’s remix is intriguing and sure to gain broad appeal in the coming months.
