Médéric Martin has accomplished a genuinely staggering amount for a producer of his tenure. Under the Raito moniker, the young French artist has demonstrated a rare capacity for quick, thoughtful evolution in the last year alone. Martin’s establishment of a style which is consistent in quality, but dynamic in sensibility through his Giant and Moon Dance EPs has earned him recognition from from an array of high-profile artists, ranging from collaborator REZZ to iconic compatriots Justice.
Most importantly, Raito has gained the favor of Boys Noize, who backed Moon Dance (among a number of other selections from the artist) on his Boysnoize Records imprint. On February 10, Raito will release his The Dream, his sophomore EP on the German label. The Dream furthers the evolution from hardened club cuts into breaks-driven melodies which Martin began in Moon Dance, taking this shift to new heights for the artist.
The EP’s titular track is one of the most uncharacteristic releases we’ve heard from the artist yet, but also one of the most exciting. Euphoric, steadily-driven piano loops arise from a breakbeat introductory section, culminating in a catchy, uplifting rhapsody. “The Dream” plays the same role in Raito’s catalogue as “Starwin” does in his mentor’s, and will likely be the release that helps break this talent into a much wider audience.
