This week’s playlist features soon-to-be-hits from Major Lazer, Martin Garrix, and Lost Kings. We’ve also highlighted a few left-of-center from Guy Gerber, Tiga, and On Planets, as well as selections from Louis The Child, The M Machine, and Oliver Heldens. Additionally, we’ve provided our top picks from within The DA Hot 25, highlighting two standout tracks.
The Heat of the Week: Major Lazer – Run Up (ft. PARTYNEXTDOOR & Nicki Minaj)
Shortly after Diplo dropped the news the release plan for Major Lazer would be singles, the supergroup released their next Caribbean-flaired radio hit, “Run Up.” Recruiting OVO’s PARTYNEXTDOOR and rap songstress Nicki Minaj, Major Lazer continue to prove their formula of dancehall, urban, and dance music is unmatched.
The Breakout Select: Lost Kings – Quit You feat. Tinashe
LA’s Lost Kings finished the year off with their first single on RCA Records, “Phone Down,” and look to kick off 2017 with their next crossover anthem, “Quit You.” With Tinashe giving a sultry yet swaggy vocal performance, “Quit You” could be the dance-pop duo’s ticket to radiowaves with its infectious synth melodies and irresistibly catchy lyrics.
