Swedish indie imprint HMWL has been accruing an eclectic catalog of releases that stem from all corners of the electronic music spectrum. While the label may be located in a country covered in snow this time of year, their latest offering, Lanui’s “Back,” immediately evokes images of island life in the Caribbean.

The song’s drop is a layering of sunny guitar strums and light percussion; however, its verses is where Lanui truly shines, with sonically-global chants and humanized claps. While many dance listeners have removed tropical-laced music from their docket of preferences, “Back” is an offering which past fans of the genre could find as a guilty pleasure, especially in the midst of winter.
