Porter Robinson caught his fans off guard in October with the sudden reveal of a new single and alias: Virtual Self. When the dust cleared, the anticipation for the first productions from Robinson since his seminal 2014 LP Worlds was at an all time high.

Not content to follow a convention rollout plan, Robinson relied on a mysterious phone number, mysterious marketing, and an utterly byzantine website design to reveal more about the project.

Happily, the wait is now over and Virtual Self’s debut EP is finally here. The self-titled release marks a significant departure from Worlds and explores themes of technology and religion, while making clear allusions to the sounds and styles that dominated the 90s. It is also another indication of long known fact: Robinson is a true chameleon and an artist of the highest order who can seemingly reinvent himself at will.
