Katy Perry‘s Witness has already undoubtedly been one of the most polarizing records of 2017, scoring Perry her third Billboard number one album, though met by mixed reviews across the board. Witness rolled out behind singles with Migos, Skip Marley, and Nicki Minaj, with Duke Dumont and Promnite hopping on production duties for the album’s inescapable Nicki feature, “Swish Swish.” Now, Promnite and Dumont’s original composition is being taken on by Valentino Khan, who’s shows off his own house-leaning sensibilities on his official remix of “Swish Swish.”
No stranger to pop production, having previously produced work with T.I., Bruno Mars and others, Khan plays upon his signature hunker-down-low brand of club-primed house music, complementing Perry’s ubiquitous summer single with a bouncy setlist igniter. Weaving Minaj’s bars and Perry’s pitched down hook into a punching, metallic break, the “Slam Dunk” producer posts up with an aggressive new rework, complete with a trap-polished half-time break.
