In March, UK-based trio The xx took over the famed Brixton Academy in London for a record-breaking seven night residency. The event featured a fine-tuned programming of special appearances and performances from artists like Sampha, Floating Points, Benji B, and Florence Welch and more, including a string of pop-up shops, afterparties, and screenings to celebrate the week-long series. During the run, band member Jamie xx took some time from his busy schedule to host a daytime, charity party, resulting in a mesmeric six-hour set that has finally been made public.
The live mix is released just in time for the London-based label Young Turks‘ first desert fling – aptly titled “Young Turks in Palm Springs” – where notable label acts such as Jamie xx, Ben UFO, Sampha, Four Tet, Francis & The Lights, Kamaiyah and special guest PNL will be performing. Listen to the mix below and get a taste of what to expect from the one-day desert affair, which will place at the Palm Springs Air Museum on April 13.
