Near the end of March, Insomniac Records launched their new sub-label, In / Rotation, to celebrate burgeoning artists in the dance music sphere. For its first release, the imprint backed “Technikal” by Dombresky, an affiliate of Tchami’s Confession label.  Tomorrow, April 11, In / Rotation will proffer its sophomore release – “High” by Born Dirty, the rising duo of British-based producers Son of Kick and Linden Jay.

For “High,” Born Dirty tap the talents of iconic French duo Cassius and vocalist JAW to tackle a stylistically eclectic and ambitious vision. “‘High’ is hybrid track fusing all our influences across different styles,” according to Born Dirty. “It’s like Afrika Bambaataa meets Tom Waits meets Tron, but with 808 subs to glue it all together.”

While achieving the intended musical melange outlined above is certainly no easy feat, the keen talents of Born Dirty, Cassius, and JAW manage to realize their goal suitably through electrifying synthesis, stylistically dynamic rhythms, and distorted, spoken-word vocals. As both Born Dirty and In / Rotation evolve past their nascent stages, “High” foreshadows a bright future for the duo and the imprint.
