Manila Killa imparts a euphoric twist on Irish folk magnate Enya’s iconic ballad “Only Time.”
Chris Gavino, better known as Manila Killa or one half of Hotel Garuda, crafts notoriously feel-good tunes under both namesakes. Gavino eases listeners into the future bass of sound this edit, only minimally speeding up Enya’s intro until a warm drop brings new life to the track.
After the serene drop, Gavino adds a romantic snippet from the French film Amélie which translates, “Without you, today’s emotions would be no more than the dead skin of past emotions.” Manila Killa really gets listeners in their feels on this one.
Gavino recently played Brownies & Lemonade’s SXSW Showcase alongside other rising future bass stars Luca Lush, Medasin, Robotaki, and many more. He’s also set to play Phoenix Lights 2017, coming up in two weeks at Margaret Thance Park in Phoenix, AZ. Check out his remix below, and catch him in Phoenix at his Sunday set on April 9.
