When Bassnectar, announced last month to be on the lookout for a string of brand new tracks and remixes in 2017, he certainly delivered early on this promise. Now the immersive bass music vanguard has teamed up with dubstep heavyweights Dirtyphonics and Ragga Twins on an extremely heavy bass single, with some interesting jungle influences.
Premiering today on Billboard Dance, the track, “Watch Out,“ arrives only two days after Bassnectar released his remix of Noisia’s “Get Deaded.“ The collaboration is high energy from the start, which is established with quaking drums, frantic synthesis, and an accelerating tempo. When paired with the Ragga Twins’ distorted ragga/jungle-influenced vocal chops, the track becomes a formidable piece that will make its way into many festival sets this coming season.
Bassnectar spoke to Billboard on the collaboration’s original inception:
“I was playing a show in Paris and hung out in the studio with the Dirtyphonics guys, we had this insane loop going and every time the downbeat synth hit everyone grimaced, but also like a really weird sense of pleasure at the same time. It took us like 89 years to finish cuz we kept making different versions, passing back and forth between half a dozen humans — glad to see it finally alive and able to fly free into the world!”
“Watch Out” was released on independent electronic music label, Monstercat, who’ve also worked with the likes of Tokyo Machine, Seven Lions and marshmello. Stream the track via Soundcloud and be sure to support the single by downloading it here.
