Gary Richards has a knack for cooking up club concoctions that bring hip-hop to the dance floor unlike many other dance artists out there. Crafting lead foot G-house pieces that feature the likes of YG, Problem, and TY Dolla $ign has become Destructo‘s calling card, though with his latest, he’s teamed with Russian dance outfit VOLAC for a new original that flips a sassy old modern pop classic on its head. Linking with the emerging Night Bass duo for “What I Got,” Destructo patches together a recognizable sample selection from Fergie’s inescapable 2006 hit “Fergalicious,” into a fresh yet familiar warehouse-primed setlist weapon.

HARD’s head honcho hooks fans in with one of his signature hunker-down-low bass lines, lacing the tune with choice sample cuts from “Fergalicious,” that weather you’re willing to admit or not, you got down to over a decade ago. Giving the original work’s inherent rump-shaking appeal an updated twist, Destructo and VOLAC rework Fergie’s ubiquitous hit into a feisty setlist weapon that’s designed to turn club floors into saunas.
