Simon Green, better known as Bonobo, will be blessing the music world with his sixth studio album, Migration, on January 13. The project will be a refreshing return to the avant-garde, indie-leaning sonic profile Green built his name on based off previews thus far, after a prolonged period touring with primarily dance-centric DJ sets.
Just before Migration’s official release, we’re granted with one final insight regarding what to expect. “No Reason,” a 7.5 minute collaboration with Nick Murphy (of Chet Faker fame), unfolds beautifully, coursing through whimsical arpeggiated synths and smooth underlying bass that allow Murphy’s moving lyrics to become the track’s centerpiece. Though housing a consistent 4/4 rhythm, “No Reason” maintains the eclectic and mellowed appeal of classic Bonobo, and ought to play out gorgeously when played live with his band.
