Given its current total domination of the music scene, it’s strange to think that only five years ago, electronic music was still breaking into the mainstream. Artists like Skrillex and deadmau5 hadn’t yet become the chart-topping household names they are now, but were already firmly selling out shows around the world. These shows exposed fans to some legendary live edits that have since been retired.

Now, a nostalgic fan has taken it upon himself to recreate one of deadmau5’s famous edits from that time period. Circa 2011, the masked Canadian was known to spice up the mellow sections of his seminal track ‘Some Chords’ with vocals from Elton John’s classic, “Tiny Dancer,” adding a recognizable vocal appeal to his show. While long since replaced in Joel Zimmerman’s shows, a fan has recreated an entire seven-minute, high-quality version of the edit. Given its legendary status, this recreation of an old deadmau5 live favorite provides a welcome bit of nostalgia.
