The track that got the singles boulder rolling for ‘Materia Chapter. Two’s at the start of the summer is back to sign off Cosmic Gate’s illustrious 2017. To port the Emma Hewitt-sung gem to dancefloors (and times of the night) anew, Nic & Bossi have tactically selected two remixers equal to the task!
With darkly rolling drums, super-subby-bass and ticking percussion tension, Anjunabeats quartet Fatum journey into deep artistic space on their mix. Prog-trance up top, with some deep house sensibilities lying just beneath its surface, ‘Tonight’s stylistic margins are fully explored. Subterranean reverb and more thalassic FX stir the mix deep, while Emma’s song takes on a more plaintive feel. Adeptly blurring the border between vocal and studio-desk effect, the mix’s thumping final act is chiselled out through its tenacious mainline.
Turning ‘Tonight’s trance wattage right up, Allen Watts goes all-guns for peak time with his remap. Squeezing every ounce of uplift out of the track, he deploys business-minded drums, racing bass, ripping fills and subliminally effective 303 to get it airborne. Once there – supported by a pitch-perfect, tension-maximised arrangement, Emma’s wonderful voice assumes control, engaging every sonic corner of the mix.
