We caught up with Italian hot shot Dayans to delve a bit deeper into his world and mind as a DJ and producer.

Hi Dayans, how are you and what’s going on in your world at the moment?
Hi. All good thanks! A very busy period for me, I’ve been in the studio for hours on end working on tracks. But I don’t mind, its what I enjoy!

Where are you currently based?
Currently in Italy, but one day I’d love to be in the USA.

How would you describe your sound?
I think I make some different music to the sort of stuff I play in my sets sometimes. I always try to create current and relevant music, but my favourites are House, Progressive House, Big Room and Future House. My sets tend to be Progressive House and Big Room.

Who were your influences growing up?
When I was growing up it was Swedish House Mafia, they’re legends and have written some songs which will go down in the history of dance music.

How did you get involved in the Dance music business?
Since I went to a club with my friends at 16 years old, I realized it was my passion. I was so curious as to how a DJ could play for four hours and make it seem like one seamless track. I then started going regularly and got friendly with the local resident DJ, Lorenzo Benedetti. I started going in to the studio with him and others and learned techniques before he offered me the chance to perform in my city with him. Day by day I get more passionate about music and I’ve collaborated with local clubs more and more in recent months. I can’t thank Lorenzo enough as he started it all off for me.

Where would you like to see yourself in the months ahead?
My main goal is to stay humble but keep improving as a DJ. Obviously, I’d love to tour abroad and collaborate with other artists too. It’s in my hands how much I grow but I am confident.

Which is your ultimate career dream?
I have a lot of dreams but the biggest one would be playing at Ultra Music Festival!

Can you tell us about any upcoming releases and what has been your career highlight so far?
I’m working on a few things now. I’ve got a track forthcoming on the 8th April on Valminuta Records called ‘It’s Love’. I’ve collaborated with a young singer from Seattle in the USA called Dorian Duta. It’s a bit different to my previous work but I’m excited. I have a few other tracks and projects which could be coming out in the next few months but I can’t announce the details yet, they’re top secret! (It may have something to do with a massive Italian TV show). My career highlight would probably be when I performed on the main stage of Magic Fest in Rome, where I shared the stage with Bob Sinclar and many others.

Who’s inspiring you in 2017?
I feel like the classic EDM sound has been changing recently. A lot of the popular tracks are sounding similar to massive artists like Alesso, Axwell and Ingrosso. Artists like Chainsmokers are creating a different sort of branch of music and I’m a big fan of all of it.

If you could choose, who would you like to collaborate with?
Good question… I would like to collab with lots of people! If I had to choose I could never turn down Alesso, Angello, Axwell, Ingrosso, Nicky Romero etc. Other people would be Dannic, Shapov or Simon de Jano. There are too many to choose from haha!

Tell us something not many people know about Dayans?
Well what can I say! I’m not a big fan of talking about myself, I’d rather people listened to my music and told me stuff. I spend most of my day in the studio, and I think it’s the best job in the world. Entertaining people is something that makes me feel good. Coming home from a night out and seeing compliments online and people loving my set makes me so happy. There’s a lot of DJss in my area but only a few of us give 100% and spend hours making music for everyone to enjoy. Nobody gives you anything, and my hard work alongside my friends has helped me earn my position. I’ve shared the stage over the years with DJs From Mars, Nari & Milani, Gubellini and obviously, Bob Sinclar. You don’t get to DJ with such great artists if you don’t work hard and have the qualities necessary to work hard. I am very humble, have the utmost passion, seriousness and professionalism. I don’t think you ever stop learning, and like listening to advice or suggestions on my work and that is important.

Anything to add/shout outs?
Just thank you very much for the opportunity!
